Kashmir recreated in Kerala for Aran

The unit and cast of the bilingual Mohan Lal-Jeeva starrer Aran, directed by Major Ravi, had to can cel the shoot and return to Chennai after a 30 day stint because of heavy snowfall. A major portion of the film was shot in the borders of Kashmir and Ladakh as the story revolves around two commandos.

Speaking to this newspaper Ravi said, “We shot this sequence with the support of BSF, CRPF and Kashmir police. There were just six days left for the first schedule to get over, but because of the heavy snowfall, we could not continue shooting. We have selected a similar place in Kerala and have erected a set that cost Rs 15 lakh to shoot the scene.”

In the meantime, another mallu girl, Lakshmi Gopalsamy has been roped in to play the lead opposite Mohan Lal after Mamta Mohandas opted out in the last moment. Actress Gopika is paired opposite Jeeva.
